A day on Ven is like a visit to paradise

Yes, that’s how wonderful this little island is, right in the middle of the Øresund between Sweden and Denmark.

Ven is located right in the strait between two countries, off the northwest coast of Skåne, between Helsingborg and Landskrona. The island is only 4.5 km long, and walking or cycling around Ven feels like being in your own paradise. Small winding roads, hills, sheep, green meadows, blooming fields, steep cliffs, and the roaring sea crashing against the rocks – yes, Ven is truly amazing in so many ways!

The majestic wheat fields dotted with blooming poppies, the vibrant yellow rapeseed fields, the hilly landscape, and the ever-present sea create a palpable sense of tranquility on the island. Once you fall in love with Ven, it never truly lets you go.

VEN

There is plenty to do on Ven, and the island offers something for every taste.

In Bäckviken, you can enjoy ice cream and a glass of wine. If you want to see more of the island, you can rent a bike at the top of the hill and visit attractions such as the Tycho Brahe Museum, the Spirit of Hven whisky distillery, the remnants of Uraniborg and Stjerneborg, the new church, and the old church located at the top of the steep hill to Kyrkbacken.

At Kyrkbacken, you can enjoy a delicious meal or relax and swim at the long sandy beach. If you’d rather play golf, there is a beautiful 9-hole course on the island.

Backafallen rise from the sea and are the island's highest point at 45 meters above sea level.

Ven is, as mentioned, a relatively small island with a length of 4.5 km and a width of 2.6 km. Backafallen rise from the sea and form the island’s highest point at 45 meters above sea level. Ven has the shape of a sloping plateau and continues to rise from the sea.

For many years, Ven belonged to Denmark, and King Frederik II granted the island to the scientist Tycho Brahe, who built the Uraniborg Castle and the underground observatory Stjerneborg. Tycho Brahe’s presence is reflected in various points of interest on the island.

Our ship M/S Vike

You can easily make a day trip to Ven or choose to stay a few days in this paradise. The ship M/S Vike departs from Helsingborg, and the crossing takes approximately 45 minutes. M/S Vike is a high-speed trimaran with excellent seafaring qualities and spacious outdoor areas on deck. The vessel has a total of 90 seats, of which 30 are indoors.

While you enjoy the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, and the salty spray from the sea, you might even spot porpoises (small dolphins) and seals. Even the journey to Ven is an adventure!

You can bring a bike, stroller, or golf cart on board the ship, which is partially accessible for people with disabilities, and it is also possible to have a wheelchair outdoors. Our staff is always available to assist and make the crossing comfortable for all passengers.

If you get hungry, there is a kiosk on board M/S Vike offering coffee, ice cream, pastries, soft drinks, candy, and hot dogs with bread. If you haven’t had time to plan your visit to Ven yet, you will also find tourist information available on board.

Welcome aboard M/S Vike – let us take you to Ven and give yourself the chance to fall in love just like we have!
